About

Moty N. Tal, MD

Dr. Tal graduated suma cum laude from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received his MD Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY. He completed his training in Ob/Gyn in Manhattan, NY with elective training in infertility at Columbia Presbyterian. Dr. Tal is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and accredited in ultrasound by AIUM. Dr. Tal moved to the Jersey Shore area to open his Ob/Gyn practice 36 years ago and has offices in Lakewood and Ocean Township. He continues to stay at the forefront of skill and knowledge in his field. He maintains a low cesarean section rate and high natural birth rates by patiently and carefully supervising labor and encouraging natural birth after cesarean sections. When Dr. Tal is not working in the office, operating room, or delivering babies, he enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Jacqueline Roman, DO

Dr. Roman received her B.S. degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in Exercise Physiology. Showing a profound love for philanthropy, she continued on to receive her Doctorate in Medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia Campus, graduating with high honors in 2009.

As one of four daughters from a close-knit family, Dr. Roman selected residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Monmouth Medical Center. Trained in minimally invasive surgery and certified in Robotic surgery are but two of Dr. Roman’s accolades in the medical field. She is currently an attending physician at Monmouth Medical Center, excelling as one of the prominent members of the teaching faculty for the Ob/Gyn residents and medical students. When Dr. Roman is not caring for her patients she partners with her husband to provide loving care to her two children.

Kathryn Nesci, NP

Katie is board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner through the National Certification Corporation. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Pace University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Drexel University.

Katie began her career as a registered nurse, working in a variety of fields, but found her passion to be caring for women and their newborns as a labor and delivery RN. She worked at Monmouth Medical Center as a Labor and Delivery RN for years before becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining Generations OB/GYN, Katie worked as an NP caring for High Risk OB patients. She provides comprehensive care to women of all ages, from adolescence to elder care. Katie is nationally certified as a lactation counselor and her special interests include breastfeeding and postpartum depression.

Katie is also a proud wife and mother of 2 young children. When she is not working, Katie enjoys spending time outdoors, reading and traveling with her family.

Shirley Cohen, CNM

Shirley Cohen is a Certified Nurse Midwife with over 32 years experience. Shirley graduated from the college of New Rochelle with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her first position was as gynecological oncology nurse at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. She then transferred to Houston, TX where she became a labor and delivery nurse.

In 1982 she began Midwifery school at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.. In 1984 she graduated with honors and went back to Houston TX as a Certified Nurse Midwife in a very busy practice. In 1986 she returned to Connecticut and joined the faculty of Yale University. She taught midwifery students and worked in the faculty private practice where she attended her births in a out of hospital birth center.

In 1988 she assumed the position of clinical director of the midwifery service at St. Margaret’s Hospital for Women in Boston. In 1990 she founded the midwifery service at Harvard Vanguard. She recruited and led a team of 14 midwifes and other support staff in a university setting at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Along with her clinical practice, she was on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Public Health. She received multiple Diamond Awards for clinical excellence from Harvard Vanguard and the Public Health Midwifery Leadership Award from Boston University.

In 2000 Rebbetzin Rischel Kotler was instrumental in bringing Shirley and Dr. Bruce Feinberg to Lakewood to open Womens’ Health Associates. Shirley opened a busy obstetrical practice with an emphasis on midwifery centered care which delivered at Kimball Hospital. She won multiple awards for excellence at Kimball. Since leaving Kimball in 2010, she has been providing care for women in a private practice setting in Lakewood and Brooklyn, including Maimonides Hospital in Boro Park.
